Atonement for Intentional Vomiting During Fasting

SUMMARY: If one vomits unintentionally while fasting, no atonement is required, but if it is done intentionally, then one must make atonement.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet said: if one has a sudden attack of vomiting while one is fasting, no atonement is required of him, but if he vomits intentionally he must make atonement.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be careful when observing religious obligations; Make up for intentional mistakes; Strive towards righteousness; Seek reward from Allah SWT.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of fasting and how to handle unintentional vomiting during a fast. According to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, if someone has a sudden attack of vomiting while they are fasting, they do not need to make any atonement or compensation for it. However, if someone vomits intentionally during their fast then they must make an atonement or compensation for it. This teaches us that we should be careful when we are fasting and not do anything that would break our fast such as eating or drinking something on purpose. It also teaches us that even though unintentional mistakes can happen during our fasts, we should still strive to keep them in order to gain the rewards from Allah SWT.
