Sunan Abi Dawud 2260 (Book 13, Hadith 86) #22551
Accepting Differences in Nature

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a man who was surprised to have a black son, and the Prophet ﷺ gave him advice on how to accept it.

Abu Hurairah said A man from Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet and said "My wife has given birth to a black son". He said "Have you any camels?" He said "They are red". He asked "Is there a dusky one among them?" He replied "Some of them are dusky". He asked "How do you think they have come about?" He replied "This may be a strain to which they reverted". He said "And this is perhaps a strain to which the child has reverted".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept differences in nature without judgement or surprise; Respect people regardless of their physical appearance or other characteristics; Do not judge people based on their differences from us; Be non-judgemental towards others; Show respect for diversity.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about accepting differences in nature. A man from Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet and told him that his wife has given birth to a black son. The Prophet asked him if he had any camels, and when he said yes, the Prophet asked if there were any dusky ones among them. When the man replied that some of them were dusky, the Prophet said that this may be a strain to which they reverted and this may be a strain to which the child has reverted as well. This teaches us that we should accept differences in nature without judgement or surprise because these are natural occurrences. We should not judge people based on their physical appearance or other characteristics but rather accept them for who they are regardless of their differences from us.
