Sahih al-Bukhari 225 (Book 4, Hadith 91) #225
Respectful Urination

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) and Hudhaifa' went for a walk and the Prophet (ﷺ) showed him how to urinate in a respectful manner.

Narrated Hudhaifa': The Prophet and I walked till we reached the dumps of some people. He stood, as any one of you stands, behind a wall and urinated. I went away, but he beckoned me to come. So I approached him and stood near his back till he finished.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your own privacy and others'.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of respecting one's privacy when performing acts such as urinating. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was walking with his companion, Hudhaifa', when he needed to use the restroom. He stood behind a wall so that no one could see him, and beckoned for Hudhaifa’ to come closer so that he could show him how it should be done. This teaches us that we should always respect our own privacy as well as others’ when performing any act which requires us to be alone or away from public view. We should also ensure that we are not disturbing anyone else while doing so, even if it is something as simple as going to the restroom.
