The Abomination of Divorce

SUMMARY: Divorce is the most abominable thing to Allah.

Narrated Muharib: The Prophet said: Allah did not make anything lawful more abominable to Him than divorce.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَرِّفٌ، عَنْ مُحَارِبٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ شَيْئًا أَبْغَضَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الطَّلاَقِ

This hadith is narrated by Muharib and it speaks about the abomination of divorce in the eyes of Allah. It states that nothing has been made lawful by Allah that He finds more abominable than divorce. This hadith teaches us that we should try our best to avoid getting divorced as it is not something that pleases Allah. We should strive to maintain a healthy relationship with our spouse and work on resolving any issues between us before taking such a drastic step as divorce. We must also remember that marriage is a sacred bond and should be treated with respect and care so as not to break it apart through divorce.
