Supplication at the Ka'bah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) visited the Ka'bah in Mecca and made supplications to Allah while standing on as-Safa.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Messenger of Allah came an entered Mecca, and after the Messenger of Allah had gone forward to the Stone, and touched it, he went round the House (the Ka'bah). He then went to as-Safa and mounted it so that he could look at the House. Then he raised his hands began to make mention of Allah as much as he wished and make supplication. The narrator said: The Ansar were beneath him. The narrator Hashim said: He prayed and praised Allah and asked Him for what he wished to ask.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، وَهَاشِمٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْقَاسِمِ - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَدَخَلَ مَكَّةَ فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَى الْحَجَرِ فَاسْتَلَمَهُ ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ أَتَى الصَّفَا فَعَلاَهُ حَيْثُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَذْكُرَهُ وَيَدْعُوهُ قَالَ وَالأَنْصَارُ تَحْتَهُ قَالَ هَاشِمٌ فَدَعَا وَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَدَعَا بِمَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an event that took place when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ visited the Ka’bah in Mecca. He went around it, then climbed up as-Safa and raised his hands to make supplications to Allah. The Ansar were beneath him, listening to his prayers and praises of Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should visit holy places such as the Ka’bah with respect and reverence, and use them as a place for prayer and supplication to Allah. It also shows us how important it is for us to remember Allah often by praising Him, asking Him for what we need, and thanking Him for His blessings upon us.
