Sunan Abi Dawud 1851 (Book 11, Hadith 131) #22143
Hunting While Wearing Ihram

SUMMARY: The game of the land is permissible for those wearing ihram as long as they do not hunt it or have it hunted on their behalf.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: The game of the land is lawful for you (when you are wearing ihram) as long as you do not hunt it or have it hunted on your behalf. Abu Dawud said: When two traditions from the Prophet conflict, one should see which of them was followed by his Companions.
