Sunan Abi Dawud 1827 (Book 11, Hadith 107) #22119
Clothing Restrictions for Women in Ihram

SUMMARY: Women in the sacred state (wearing ihram) should not wear gloves, veil their faces, or wear clothes with dye of waras or saffron on them.

'Abd Allaah bin Umar said that he heard the Apostle of Allaah prohibiting women in the sacred state (wearing ihram) to wear gloves, veil(their faces) and to wear clothes with dye of waras or saffron on them. But afterwards they can wear any kind of clothing they like dyed yellow or silk or jewelry or trousers or shirts or shoes. Abu Dawud said 'Abdah and Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated this tradition from Muhammad bin Ishaq up to the words "And to wear clothes with dye of waras or saffron on them". They did not mention the words after them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the restrictions placed on women who are wearing ihram, which is a special state of purity that Muslims enter when performing certain rituals such as Hajj and Umrah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prohibited women from wearing gloves, veiling their faces, and wearing clothes with dye of waras or saffron on them while in this state. However, they can still wear other types of clothing such as yellow dyed clothing, silk clothing, jewelry trousers shirts shoes etc. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our dress code when entering a sacred state and to respect its rules even if it means foregoing certain items we may want to wear at that time. It also reminds us that modesty is an important part of our faith and should be taken seriously even during times when we are not required to observe it strictly like during ihram.
