Sacrificing a Cow for Umrah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) sacrificed a cow for his wives who had performed Umrah.

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Messenger of Allah sacrificed a cow for his wives who had performed umrah.
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الرَّازِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ذَبَحَ عَمَّنِ اعْتَمَرَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ بَقَرَةً بَيْنَهُنَّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's sacrifice of a cow for his wives who had performed the religious pilgrimage known as umrah. This act of sacrificing an animal is known as dhabh in Arabic and it is an important part of Islamic practice. It serves to remind us that we should be grateful to Allah and that we should be willing to give up something valuable in order to show our appreciation.
