Trading During Hajj Pilgrimage

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that trading was allowed in Mina during the Hajj pilgrimage.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: Ibn Abbas recited this verse: 'It is no sin for you that you seek the bounty of your Lord', and said: The people would not trade in Mina (during the hajj), so they were commanded to trade when they proceeded from Arafat.
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ ‏{‏ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلاً مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ ‏}‏ قَالَ كَانُوا لاَ يَتَّجِرُونَ بِمِنًى فَأُمِرُوا بِالتِّجَارَةِ إِذَا أَفَاضُوا مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about trading during the hajj pilgrimage. It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas who recited a verse from the Quran which states that it is not a sin to seek bounty from God. He then explained that people were not allowed to trade in Mina so they were commanded to trade when they proceeded from Arafat. This teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions and follow the rules set out for us by Allah. We should also strive to make use of our resources and opportunities wisely and responsibly as this will bring us closer to Allah's blessings.
