Traveling with a Slave Girl

SUMMARY: A slave girl named Safiyyah was allowed to travel with her master, Ibn 'Umr, on a camel.

QUICK LESSONS:
Treat all people with respect and kindness regardless of their social status or position in life.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the story of Ibn 'Umr and his slave girl Safiyyah. It is said that he allowed her to travel with him on a camel. This shows us that even though slavery was practiced during this time, it did not mean that slaves were treated cruelly or without respect. Instead, Ibn 'Umr showed kindness and compassion towards his slave by allowing her to accompany him on his journey. This teaches us the importance of treating all people with respect and kindness regardless of their social status or position in life.
