Sahih al-Bukhari 2296 (Book 39, Hadith 7) #2201
Fulfilling Promises After Death

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) promised Jabir bin 'Abdullah a certain amount of money from Bahrain, and Abu Bakr fulfilled the promise after the Prophet's death.

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: Once the Prophet said (to me), "If the money of Bahrain comes, I will give you a certain amount of it". The Prophet had breathed his last before the money of Bahrain arrived. When the money of Bahrain reached, Abu Bakr announced, "Whoever was promised by the Prophet should come to us". I went to Abu Bakr and said, "The Prophet promised me so and so". Abu Bakr gave me a handful of coins and when I counted them, they were five-hundred in number. Abu Bakr then said, "Take twice the amount you have taken (besides).

QUICK LESSONS:
Keep your promises , Be generous & charitable
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of fulfilling promises even after death. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised Jabir bin 'Abdullah a certain amount of money from Bahrain, and when it arrived Abu Bakr made sure to fulfill this promise. This shows us that we should always strive to keep our promises no matter what happens, as it is an important part of being a good Muslim. Even if someone passes away before they can fulfill their promise, we should still try our best to make sure that their wishes are carried out in order for them to be honored and respected. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about the importance of charity and generosity; Abu Bakr gave Jabir twice as much money as he was originally promised in order for him to be taken care of properly.
