Kindness in Lending and Borrowing

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that lending and borrowing of everyday items should be done with kindness.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: During the time of the Messenger of Allah we used to consider ma'un (this of daily use) lending a bucket and cooking-pot.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show kindness when lending or borrowing items for daily use

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of being kind when lending or borrowing items for daily use. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that even when it comes to small things like a bucket or cooking pot, we should still show kindness to one another. This means that we should not take advantage of someone who is in need by charging them too much money for something they are borrowing from us. We should also be generous when lending out our own possessions and not expect too much in return. By following this teaching from the Prophet ﷺ we can create a more harmonious society where people help each other out without expecting anything in return.
