Sunan Abi Dawud 1456 (Book 8, Hadith 41) #21748
The Value of Learning Quran

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that learning two verses of the Quran is better than having two she-camels, and three verses are better than three she-camels.

'Uqbah b. 'Amir al-Juhani said: When we were in the Suffah, the Messenger of Allah asked: Which of you would like to go out every morning to Buthan or Al-'Aqiq and bring two large humped and fat she-camels without being guilty of sin and severing ties of relationship ? They (the people) said: Messenger of Allah, we would all like that. He said: If any one of you goes out in the morning to the mosque and learns two verses of the Book of Allah, the Exalted, it is better for him than two she-camels, and three verses are better for him than three she-camels, and so on than their numbers in camels.

QUICK LESSONS:
Learn at least 2 verses of Qur'an every morning .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the value of learning the Quran. It shows us that knowledge is more valuable than material possessions such as camels. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was teaching his companions in the Suffah about how important it is to learn from Allah's book and to gain knowledge from it. He said that if someone learns two verses of the Quran each day then they will be rewarded more than if they had two camels or even more if they learn three verses a day instead! This shows us how much Allah values knowledge and encourages us to seek it out in order to gain rewards from Him. We should strive to learn as much as we can from His book so that we can benefit both in this life and in the hereafter.
