Praying Together as a Couple

SUMMARY: This hadith encourages couples to pray together and motivates them to wake each other up for prayer.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet said: May Allah show mercy to a man who gets up during the night and prays, who wakens his wife and she prays; if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages couples to pray together and motivates them to wake each other up for prayer. It is narrated by AbuHurayrah that the Prophet said that Allah will show mercy on a man who wakes his wife up for prayer if she refuses he should sprinkle water on her face. Similarly Allah will show mercy on a woman who wakes her husband up for prayer if he refuses she should sprinkle water on his face. This hadith teaches us the importance of praying together as a couple and how it can bring blessings from Allah upon us. It also shows us how we should be respectful towards our spouses even when they are not willing to do something we want them to do. We should not force them but rather try our best in convincing them with kindness and respect so that both of us can benefit from it in this life and hereafter.
