Observing Witr with Recitation of Specific Verses

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to observe witr with reciting three specific verses from the Quran.

Narrated Ubayy ibn Ka'b: The Messenger of Allah used to observe witr with (reciting) "Glorify the name of thy Lord, the most High" (Surah 87), "Say O disbelievers" (Surah 109), and "Say, He is Allah, the One, Allah, the eternally besought of all" (112).
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ الأَبَّارُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، - وَهَذَا لَفْظُهُ - عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ، وَزُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يُوتِرُ بِـ ‏{‏ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى ‏}‏ وَ ‏{‏ قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ‏}‏ وَاللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الصَّمَدُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ubayy ibn Ka'b tells us that the Prophet Muhammad used to observe witr, a special prayer done at night, by reciting three specific verses from the Quran. These verses are Surah 87, 109 and 112. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our prayers and worship Allah in a way that pleases Him.
