The Importance of Witr Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of performing Witr prayer and warned that those who do not observe it are not part of his community.

Narrated Buraydah ibn al-Hasib: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: The witr is a duty, so he who does not observe it does not belong to us; the witr is a duty, so he who does not observe it does not belong to us; the witr is a duty, so he who does not observe it does not belong to us.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform your obligatory prayers including witr prayer.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Buraydah ibn al-Hasib emphasizes the importance of performing the Witr prayer, which is an obligation for Muslims. It is a voluntary prayer that is performed after Ishaa and before Fajr prayers. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stressed its importance by repeating three times that “he who does not observe it does not belong to us”, meaning that those who do not perform this prayer are excluded from his community. This hadith serves as a reminder to all Muslims to make sure they perform their obligatory prayers, including the witr prayer, in order to be part of Prophet Muhammad's community.
