Sunan Abi Dawud 1412 (Book 7, Hadith 12) #21704
Prostrating Along With the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would recite a surah and then prostrate along with his companions, so much so that none of them could find a place for their forehead.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah would recite to us a surah (according to the version of Ibn Numair) outside the prayer (the agreed version goes), then he would prostrate along with him, and none of us could find a place for his forehead.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of following the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in our lives. It is narrated by Ibn 'Umar that when the Prophet ﷺ recited a sura from the Quran he would prostrate along with his companions. This shows us how important it was for him to follow what he was teaching and how devoted he was to worshipping Allah SWT. His devotion and commitment were such that all his companions were unable to find space on the ground for their foreheads due to everyone prostrating together at once. We can learn from this hadith that we should strive to follow in our beloved prophet's footsteps and be devoted in our worship of Allah SWT as well as being committed followers of Islam.
