Prostration During Recitation of Sad

SUMMARY: Prostration when reciting Sad is not a divinely commanded act, but the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did it.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: A prostration when reciting Sad is not one of those which are divinely commanded, but I have seen Messenger of Allah prostrate himself.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ لَيْسَ ‏{‏ ص ‏}‏ مِنْ عَزَائِمِ السُّجُودِ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَسْجُدُ فِيهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that prostrating during reciting of Surah Al-Sad is not an obligatory act, however the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did it. This shows us that although certain acts may not be mandatory, they can still be done as an expression of reverence and respect for Allah. It also teaches us to follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet and strive to emulate his actions in our daily lives.
