Reciting the Qur'an in Different Time Periods

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised Abdullah ibn Amr on how many days it would take to recite the Qur'an.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: Wahb ibn Munabbih said: Abdullah ibn Amr asked the Prophet ; In how many days should one complete the recitation of the Qur'an? He said: In forty days. He then said: In one month. He again said: In twenty days. He then said: In fifteen days. He then said: In ten days. Finally he said: In seven days.
حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ فِي كَمْ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي شَهْرٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي عِشْرِينَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي عَشْرٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي سَبْعٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ مِنْ سَبْعٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about reciting the Quran and how long it should take. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised Abdullah Ibn Amr on how many days it would take to recite the Quran. He said that one could complete reciting the Quran in forty days, one month, twenty days, fifteen days, ten days or seven days. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to read and understand the Quran as much as possible within a certain time frame so that we can benefit from its teachings and guidance. It also encourages us to be consistent with our reading of the Quran so that we can gain more knowledge from it over time.
