Prayer Practices of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray thirteen rak'ahs, including the two rak'ahs of dawn prayer, and would observe witr and five rak'ahs.

Narrated 'Aishah: The Messenger of Allah used to pray thirteen rak'ahs, observing six rak'ahs in pairs including the two rak'ahs of dawn prayer. He would observe witr and five rak'ahs. He sat only in the last of them.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحَرَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ ‏:‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يُصَلِّي ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً بِرَكْعَتَيْهِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ ‏:‏ يُصَلِّي سِتًّا مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، وَيُوتِرُ بِخَمْسٍ لاَ يَقْعُدُ بَيْنَهُنَّ إِلاَّ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ

The hadith narrated by 'Aishah describes the prayer practices of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He used to pray thirteen rak’ahs in total, which included two rak’ahs for dawn prayer. He also observed witr and five additional rak’ahs. During these prayers, he would only sit during the last one.
