Prayer of the Prophet (PBUH): Eight Rak'ahs in Pairs and Five for Witr

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) prayed eight rak'ahs in pairs and then observed witr with five rak'ahs without sitting between them.

Sa'id b. Jubair said that Ibn 'Abbas told him: He (the Prophet) got up and prayed eight rak'ahs in pairs, and then observed witr with five rak'ahs and he did not sit between them.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، حَدَّثَهُ فِي، هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ قَالَ ‏:‏ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، حَتَّى صَلَّى ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ بِخَمْسٍ لَمْ يَجْلِسْ بَيْنَهُنَّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which he used to perform during his lifetime. He would pray eight rak’ahs in pairs and then observe witr with five rak’ahs without sitting between them.
