The Prophet's Night Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray ten rak'ahs during the night and two rak'ahs of the dawn prayer, making a total of thirteen rak'ahs.

Narrated 'Aishah: The Messenger of Allah used to pray ten rak'ahs during the night, and would observe the witr with one rak'ah, he then prayed two rak'ahs of the dawn prayer. Thus he prayed thirteen rak'ahs in all.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly with devotion and respect towards Allah's commands

EXPLANATIONS:
According to this hadith narrated by 'Aishah, the Prophet Muhammad used to pray ten rak’ahs during the night and two more for the dawn prayer. This means that he prayed a total of thirteen rak’ahs every day. A ‘rak’ah’ is one unit of prayer in Islam which consists of standing up straight while reciting verses from the Quran followed by bowing down and prostrating on the ground. This hadith teaches us about how important it is for Muslims to be devoted in their prayers and worship Allah regularly. It also shows us how much respect we should have for our religion as well as our prophet who was an example for all Muslims in his devotion towards Allah's commands.
