Sunan Abi Dawud 1312 (Book 5, Hadith 63) #21604
Praying with Strength and Perseverance

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) saw a rope tied between two pillars in the mosque and asked what it was for. He was told that it was for a woman who would use it to lean on when she became tired while praying. The Prophet then advised her to pray as much as she can and sit down when she becomes tired.

Narrated Anas: The Messenger of Allah entered the mosque (and saw that) a rope tied between two pillars. He asked: What is this rope (for) ? The people told him: This is (for) Hamnah b. Jahsh who prays (here). When she is tired, she reclines on it. The Messenger of Allah said: She should pray as much as she has strength. When she is tired, she should sit down. This version of Ziyad has: He said: What is this ? The people told him: This is for Zainab who prays. When she becomes lazy, or is tired, she holds it. He said: Undo it. One of you should pray in good spirits. When he is lazy or tired, he should sit down.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with strength & perseverance even if you become tired & lazy during them .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer, strength, and perseverance. It is narrated by Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet Muhammad entered the mosque one day and noticed a rope tied between two pillars. When he asked what it was for, he was told that it was used by a woman named Hamnah bint Jahsh or Zainab who would lean on it when she became tired while praying. The Prophet then advised her to pray as much as she has strength, but if she becomes too tired or lazy, then sit down instead of leaning on the rope. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to perform our prayers with strength and perseverance even if we become tired or lazy during them; however, if we are unable to do so due to fatigue or other reasons, then we should take rest instead of relying on external aids such as ropes or chairs in order to complete our prayers properly.
