The Importance of Prayer in Pairs

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that prayer should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, both during the day and night.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet said: Prayer by night and day should consist of pairs of rak'ahs.
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَارِقِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى

This hadith teaches us about the importance of prayer in our lives. It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad.
