Praying Two Rak'ahs Before 'Asr Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) used to pray two rak'ahs before the 'Asr prayer.

Narrated 'Ali: That the Prophet used to pray two rak'ahs before the 'Asr prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray two rak’ahs before the ‘Asr prayer. A rak’ah is a unit of prayer and ‘Asr is one of the five daily prayers in Islam. This hadith shows us that it is a sunnah or tradition of the Prophet Muhammad to pray two rak’ahs before ‘Asr. It teaches us that we should follow in his footsteps and do as he did by praying two rak’ahs before ‘Asr every day.
