Sunan Abi Dawud 1265 (Book 5, Hadith 16) #21557
The Real Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ asked a man who had joined the congregational prayer after praying two rak'ahs alone which was his real prayer.

Narrated 'Abd Allah b. Sarjas: A man came while the Prophet was leading the people in the dawn prayer. He prayed the two rak'ahs and then joined the congregational prayer led by the Prophet . When he finished the prayer, the Prophet said: So-and-so, which was your real prayer, the one you prayed alone or the one offered with us ?

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray sincerely with mindfulness when joining a congregation
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of congregational prayer and how it is more rewarding than praying alone. It teaches us that when we pray in congregation, we should be mindful of our individual prayers and not neglect them for the sake of joining the congregation. We should also be aware that even if we join a congregation late, our individual prayers are still valid and important to God. Furthermore, this hadith also shows us that God values sincerity in our actions and intentions as He asked the man which was his real prayer; implying that He knows what is truly in our hearts even if it may not be visible to others.
