QUICK LESSONS:
Prioritize religious duties , fulfill obligations according to Islamic law
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad stayed in Mecca for 15 days during the year known as Am al-Fath or ‘Year of Conquest’ and shortened his prayers during this time. This is a practice known as Qasr which means to shorten one's prayer from four rak'ahs to two rak'ahs when travelling a certain distance or staying at a place for less than 10 days. This hadith shows us that even though he was busy with important matters such as conquering Mecca, he still made sure to fulfill his religious obligations and pray regularly according to Islamic law. It also teaches us that we should prioritize our religious duties even when we are busy with other tasks in life.
