Praying Voluntary Prayers While Travelling

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would pray voluntary prayers while travelling on his riding beast, and he would observe witr prayer but not the obligatory prayers.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: While travelling the Messenger of Allah would pray voluntary prayer on his riding beast in whatever direction it turned; and he would observe witr prayer, but he did not offer the obligatory prayers upon it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take time out for praying even if you are busy ; Observe witr ; Connect with Allah through worship ; Make efforts to remember Him despite having limited time available ; Prioritize spiritual matters over worldly ones .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad's example of praying voluntary prayers while travelling is a reminder to us of the importance of prayer in our lives. Even when we are busy or on the go, we should take time out to remember Allah and offer our prayers. He also showed us that it is permissible to pray voluntary prayers while travelling, but not obligatory ones. This teaches us that even when we are in a rush or have limited time, we should still make an effort to connect with Allah through prayer.

The Prophet Muhammad's practice of observing witr prayer also serves as an example for us today. Witr is an optional night prayer which consists of three rak'ahs and can be prayed at any point during the night after Ishaa' until dawn breaks. It is recommended for Muslims to observe this special form of worship as it helps them stay connected with Allah even during late hours when they may be too tired or busy for other forms of worship such as reciting Quran or dhikr.
