Praying During Solar Eclipses

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed during a solar eclipse and stood for a long time, nearly equal to the recitation of Surah al Baqarah.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: An eclipse of the sun took place. the Messenger of Allah prayed along with the people. He stood up for a long time nearly equal to the recitation of Surah al Baqarah. H then bowed. The narrator then transmitted the rest of the tradition.
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، - كَذَا عِنْدَ الْقَاضِي وَالصَّوَابُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، - قَالَ خُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَالنَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلاً بِنَحْوٍ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ

EXPLANATIONS:
During a solar eclipse, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH prayed along with the people. He stood for a long time, nearly equal to the recitation of Surah al Baqarah. This shows us that it is important to take part in prayer during an eclipse and that we should be mindful of our actions during this time. It also teaches us that we should be patient and devoted when praying as it is an act of worship towards Allah SWT. We should also strive to recite Quran as much as possible in order to gain its blessings and rewards from Allah SWT.
