Sahih al-Bukhari 2227 (Book 34, Hadith 174) #2137
Breaking Promises and Exploiting Laborers

SUMMARY: Allah will be against those who break their promises, enslave free people, and exploit laborers.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah says, 'I will be against three persons on the Day of Resurrection: I One who makes a covenant in My Name, but he proves treacherous. -2. One who sells a free person (as a slave) and eats the price, -3. And one who employs a laborer and gets the full work done by him but does not pay him his wages'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Keep your promises , Respect other people's freedom , Treat Laborers Fairly .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of breaking promises, enslaving free people, and exploiting laborers. Allah will be against those who do these things on the Day of Resurrection. A promise is a commitment to do something or not do something in exchange for something else. Betrayal is when someone breaks their promise or does not keep their word. A free person is someone who has no master or owner; they are independent and have freedom over themselves and their actions. An employer/laborer relationship involves an employer hiring a laborer to complete a task in exchange for payment; exploitation occurs when an employer takes advantage of the laborer by not paying them what they are owed for completing the task. This hadith teaches us that we should always keep our promises, respect other people's freedom, and treat laborers fairly by paying them what they deserve for their work.
