Sunan Abi Dawud 1036 (Book 2, Hadith 647) #21328
Performing Prostrations of Forgetfulness During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that if an Imam remembers something during the prayer, he should sit down and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness.

Narrated Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah: The Prophet said: When an imam stands up at the end of two rak'ahs , if he remembers before standing straight up, he should sit down, but if he stands straight up, he must not sit down, but perform the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Abu Dawud said: I have not narrated in this book of mine any hadith from Jabir Al-Ju'fi (one of the narrators) except this one.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful when praying , Admit mistakes , Ask for forgiveness from God .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about how to act when we are in prayer. If an Imam is leading a prayer and they remember something during the middle of it, they should sit down and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness. This is a way for them to show humility before God by acknowledging their mistake. It also serves as a reminder for all Muslims that we must be mindful when praying so that we can focus on our relationship with God without any distractions or mistakes. We must also be humble enough to admit our mistakes and ask for forgiveness from God whenever necessary.
