Prostration Due to Forgetfulness

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) led a prayer and prostrated twice due to forgetfulness.

Ibn 'Umar said : The Messenger of Allah led us in prayer and gave the salutation after two rakahs of prayer. He narrated this tradition like that of Ibn Sirin from Abu Hurairah. This version adds; he gave the salutation and prostrated two prostrations due to forgetfulness.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's prayer in which he gave the salutation after two rakahs of prayer and then prostrated twice due to forgetfulness. This hadith teaches us that even though the Prophet was infallible, he still made mistakes like forgetting something during his prayers. It also teaches us that we should not be ashamed of our mistakes but rather learn from them and strive for perfection in our worship of Allah. We should also remember that Allah is Most Forgiving and Merciful so if we make a mistake while praying or doing any other act of worship, He will forgive us if we sincerely repent for it.
