Maintaining Tranquility During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against being too restless during prayer and advised to maintain tranquility.

Jabir b. Samurah said: The Messenger of Allah entered upon us while the people were raising their hands. The narrator Zubair said: I think( they were raising the hands) during prayer. He (the prophet) said: What is the matter, I see you raising your hands as if they are the tails of restive horses! Maintain tranquility during prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الطَّائِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَالنَّاسُ رَافِعُو أَيْدِيهِمْ - قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ أُرَاهُ قَالَ - فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ رَافِعِي أَيْدِيكُمْ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ خَيْلٍ شُمْسٍ اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلاَةِ

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was visiting his companions when he noticed that they were raising their hands as if they were the tails of restive horses. He warned them against being too restless during prayer and advised them to maintain tranquility instead. This hadith teaches us the importance of having a peaceful state of mind while praying, as it is an act of worship that requires concentration and focus on Allah's words.
