Cupping the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was cupped by Abu Taiba and in return, he ordered a Sa of dates to be paid to him and reduced his tax.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Taiba cupped Allah's Messenger and so Allah's Messenger ordered that a Sa of dates be paid to him and ordered his masters (for he was a slave) to reduce his tax.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ حَجَمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ، فَأَمَرَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ، وَأَمَرَ أَهْلَهُ أَنْ يُخَفِّفُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ خَرَاجِهِ‏.‏

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) kindness and generosity towards Abu Taiba. Abu Taiba was a slave who cupped the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In return, the Prophet ordered that a Sa of dates should be given to Abu Taiba as payment for his services, as well as reducing his tax. This hadith teaches us that we should always show kindness and generosity towards others regardless of their social status or financial standing. We should also strive to help those in need whenever possible.
