The Prophet's Comment on Milk

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) drank milk, rinsed his mouth and commented on its fat content.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Allah's Messenger drank milk, rinsed his mouth and said, "It has fat".
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ شَرِبَ لَبَنًا، فَمَضْمَضَ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ لَهُ دَسَمًا ‏"‏‏.‏ تَابَعَهُ يُونُسُ وَصَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) drank some milk and then rinsed his mouth with water. After doing so he commented that the milk was fatty. This hadith teaches us to pay attention to what we consume and to take note of its nutritional value. It also shows us that even something as simple as drinking a glass of milk can be done in a mindful manner. Furthermore, it encourages us to take care of our health by being aware of what we eat or drink and how it affects our bodies.
