Sunan Abi Dawud 803 (Book 2, Hadith 413) #21094
Following the Example of the Prophet

SUMMARY: Sa'd was being criticized for his prayer, but 'Umar was reassured that Sa'd was following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him).

Jabir b. Samurah reported: ’Umar said to Sa’d: people complain against you for everything, even for prayer. He replied: I prolong the first two rak’ahs of prayer and make the last two rak’ahs brief; I do not fall short of following the prayer offered by the Messenger of Allah(May peace be upon him). He said: I think so about you.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad when praying, Prolong first two Rak’ahs & make last two Rak’ahs brief .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to pray properly according to Islamic teachings. It tells us that we should follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad and make sure our prayers are done correctly. We should start by prolonging our first two rak'ahs and making our last two rak'ahs brief. This way, we can ensure that we are following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad and praying as he did. The hadith also teaches us an important lesson about criticism; even if someone is being criticized for something, it does not necessarily mean they are wrong or doing something wrong. In this case, 'Umar was reassured by Sa'd's explanation and accepted it as true because he knew that Sa'd was following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad.
