Sunan Abi Dawud 778 (Book 2, Hadith 388) #21069
The Prophet's Silence During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) had two periods of silence during prayer, one at the beginning and one at the end.

Samurah b. Jundub said: The Prophet had two periods of silence; when he began his prayer and when he finished the recitation (of the Qur’an). He then narrated the tradition like the version of Yunus.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be silent during prayer; Reflect on your relationship with Allah SWT; Ask for guidance; Remember those who are less fortunate than you; Ask for their well-being too!

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of silence during prayer. It was narrated by Samurah b. Jundub that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would have two periods of silence when he began and finished his prayer, reciting from the Qur'an in between these times. This shows us how important it is to be silent and reflective when we pray, as this was a practice of our beloved Prophet ﷺ himself. We should take this time to reflect on our relationship with Allah SWT and ask for His guidance in all aspects of our lives. Additionally, we should also take this time to remember those who are less fortunate than us and ask Allah SWT for their well-being too!
