QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble and modest when making supplications to Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of humility and modesty when making supplications to Allah. It is narrated by Shu’aib b. Abi Hamzah that Ibn al-Munkadir, Ibn Abi Farwah and a number of jurists from Madina said to him that instead of saying “I am first among the Muslims” one should say “I am one among the Muslims” while making a supplication. This hadith teaches us that we should not be boastful or arrogant in our prayers as it goes against Islamic values such as humility and modesty which are highly praised in Islam. We should always remember that we are all equal before Allah regardless of our social status or wealth; therefore, we must remain humble when asking for His help or mercy.
