The Sunnah of Placing Hands and Feet

SUMMARY: Placing one hand on the other and setting the feet right is a sunnah.

Zur’ah b. 'Abd al-Rahman said: I heard Ibn al-Zubair say: Setting the feet right and placing one hand on the other is a sunnah.
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، يَقُولُ صَفُّ الْقَدَمَيْنِ وَوَضْعُ الْيَدِ عَلَى الْيَدِ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ

This hadith is about a sunnah which involves placing one hand on top of the other and setting your feet right when sitting or standing. This was narrated by Zur’ah b. 'Abd al-Rahman who heard it from Ibn al-Zubair. It is important to follow this sunnah as it shows respect for Allah and His Prophet ﷺ as well as others around us. It also helps us maintain good posture which can help with our physical health in the long run. We should strive to practice this sunnah whenever we are sitting or standing in order to show respect for Allah and His Prophet ﷺ as well as those around us while also taking care of our physical health at the same time.
