The Value of Prudence

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised his followers to be wise and prudent, and to prioritize those qualities in their lives.

Abu Ma’sud reported the Messenger of Allah as saying: let those of your who are sedate and prudent be near me, then those who are next to them, then those who are next to them.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لِيَلِنِي مِنْكُمْ أُولُو الأَحْلاَمِ وَالنُّهَى ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is advising his followers to prioritize wisdom and prudence in their lives. He encourages them to strive for these qualities by saying that those who are sedate and prudent should come near him first. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for wisdom and prudence in our lives as it will bring us closer to Allah. It also reminds us that we should always try our best to act with good morals and character so that we can become better people. We should also remember that being wise and prudent will help us make better decisions in life which can lead us towards success both spiritually as well as materially.
