We should instead use something more respectful such as a prayer mat or rug when praying so that we can show our respect for Allah while also being comfortable during prayer. Additionally, this hadith teaches us the importance of questioning things if we are unsure about them, as 'Ubaid allah's father did in this case by doubting the practice before confirming it with A'ishah.
