Selling Gold & Silver

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the selling of gold for gold and silver for silver except if they are equivalent in weight, and allowed us to sell gold for silver and vice versa.

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakra: that his father said, "The Prophet forbade the selling of gold for gold and silver for silver except if they are equivalent in weight, and allowed us to sell gold for silver and vice versa as we wished".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest and fair when trading with others so that both parties benefit equally from the transaction.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about trading gold and silver. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade the selling of gold for gold or silver for silver unless they were equal in weight. He also allowed people to sell either one of them in exchange for the other as long as it was done fairly. This teaches us that when we trade with others, we should be honest and fair so that both parties benefit from the transaction equally. We should not take advantage of someone else's lack of knowledge or try to deceive them into giving us more than what is fair.
