Praying at Home

SUMMARY: It is better for a woman to pray in her house than in her courtyard, and even better to pray in her private chamber.

'Abd Allah (b. Mas’ud) reported the prophet as saying; it is more excellent for a woman to pray in her house than in her courtyard, and more excellent for her to pray in her private chamber than in her house.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray at home or private chambers with respectfulness and modesty.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of prayer for women and how it should be done. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that it is more excellent for a woman to pray in her house than in her courtyard, and even more excellent for her to pray in her private chamber than in her house. This means that when praying, women should try their best to find a place where they can be alone and undisturbed so that they can focus on their prayers without any distractions or interruptions. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us the importance of privacy when praying as well as the value of modesty which is why it is recommended that women should not pray out loud or openly where others can hear them.
