Sunan Abi Dawud 540 (Book 2, Hadith 150) #20831
The Importance of Waiting for the Prophet (PBUH)

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of waiting for the Prophet (PBUH) to come out before leaving a gathering.

This tradition has also been reported through a different chain of narrators in a similar way. This version says: "Until you see me that I have come out". Abu dawud said: No one except Ma’mar has narrated the words "that I have come out". And the version transmitted by Ibn 'Uyainah from Ma’mar does not mention the words "that I have come out".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect and reverence towards our beloved prophet ﷺ by following his instructions even if it means having to wait longer than expected.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of waiting for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to come out before leaving a gathering. It is narrated by Abu Dawud and Ma’mar Ibn Rashid that when people were in a gathering with the Prophet ﷺ they should not leave until he has come out first. This teaches us that we should always show respect and reverence towards our beloved prophet ﷺ by following his instructions even if it means having to wait longer than expected. We must also remember that we are all part of one community and should strive to be united in our actions as well as our words.
