Sunan Abi Dawud 534 (Book 2, Hadith 144) #20825
Waiting for Dawn to Call Adhan

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed Bilal to not call the adhan until the dawn appears clearly.

Narrated Bilal: The Messenger of Allah said to Bilal: Do not call adhan until the dawn appears clearly to you in this way, stretching his hand in latitude. Abu Dawud said: Shaddad did not see Bilal.

QUICK LESSONS:
Wait patiently for things to happen in their own time; Pay attention when doing something important; Respect the place and timing of prayer
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Bilal is about waiting for the dawn before calling adhan. Adhan is a call to prayer that Muslims make five times a day, and it is important that it be done at the right time. In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad instructed Bilal not to call adhan until he could see the dawn clearly. This teaches us that we should be patient and wait for things to happen in their own time, rather than rushing them or trying to force them into happening sooner than they should. It also teaches us that we should pay attention to detail and take care when doing something as important as calling adhan so that it can be done correctly and on time.
