Sunan Abi Dawud 516 (Book 2, Hadith 126) #20807
The Devil's Tactics During Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that when the call to prayer is made, the devil turns away and breaks wind so as not to hear it. When the second call is made, he turns away again and tries to distract people from their prayers by suggesting thoughts in their minds.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah as saying: when the call to prayer is made; the devil turns his back and breaks wind so as not to hear the call being made; but when the call is finished, he turns round. When the second call to prayer (iqamah) is made, he turns his back, and when the second call is finished, he turns round and suggest notions in the mind of the man (at prayer) to distract his attention, saying: remember such and such, referring to something the man did not have n mind, with the result that he does not know how much he has prayed.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be aware of Shaytan's tactics during prayer; Try your best to focus on your prayers without being distracted;
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains how the devil tries to disrupt our prayers. When we are called for prayer, he turns his back and breaks wind so as not to hear it. Then when we start praying, he turns around again and suggests thoughts in our minds that can distract us from our prayers. He does this so that we don't know how much of our prayer we have completed or if we have missed any part of it. We should be aware of these tactics of the devil and try our best to focus on our prayers without being distracted by anything else.
