Sahih al-Bukhari 2160 (Book 34, Hadith 111) #2074
The Wrongful Practices of Buying and Selling

SUMMARY: It is wrong to urge a seller to restore a purchase so as to buy it oneself, and it is also wrong to practice Najsh.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "A buyer should not urge a seller to restore a purchase so as to buy it himself, and do not practice Najsh; and a town dweller should not sell goods of a desert dweller".

QUICK LESSONS:
Do not take advantage of sellers; do business with honesty and fairness; respect others’ property rights; act justly in all business dealings; maintain integrity in all transactions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us about the wrongful practices of buying and selling. It is wrong for a buyer to urge a seller to restore a purchase so that they can buy it themselves, as this would be taking advantage of the seller. Additionally, it is wrong for someone who lives in town or city to sell goods from someone who lives in the desert or countryside without their permission. These are two practices that should not be done when buying or selling goods.
