Build mosques with simplicity so they can serve their purpose without distractions or unnecessary decorations; Stay humble in all aspects of life including when constructing places for worshipping Allah SWT; Avoid making a showy display when constructing a mosque .

This hadith is narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas and it talks about not building high mosques. It also mentions that one should not adorn them as the Jews and Christians did.
