Sunan Abi Dawud 427 (Book 2, Hadith 37) #20718
The Power of Morning and Afternoon Prayers

SUMMARY: Praying before the rising of the sun and before its setting will protect one from entering Hell.

Narrated Umarah ibn Ruwaybah: A man from Basrah said: Tell me what you heard from the Messenger of Allah . He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: No one will enter Hell who has prayed before the rising of the sun and before its setting (meaning the dawn and the afternoon prayers). He said three times: Have you heard it from him? He replied: Yes, each time saying: My ears heard it and my heart memorized it. The man then said: And I heard him (the Prophet) say that.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of morning and afternoon prayers. It is narrated by Umarah ibn Ruwaybah that a man from Basrah asked him what he heard from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He replied that he heard him say that no one will enter Hell who has prayed before the rising of the sun and before its setting. The man then confirmed this saying that he too had heard it from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself. This hadith teaches us how important it is to pray in order to be saved from entering hellfire. It also shows us how powerful prayer can be in protecting us against evil deeds and sins as well as guiding us towards righteousness. Furthermore, it encourages us to make sure we are consistent with our prayers so we can reap its benefits in both this life and hereafter.
