Sunan Abi Dawud 422 (Book 2, Hadith 32) #20713
Prayer and Compassion for the Weak

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught his followers to be mindful of the needs of those who are weak and sick, and to not delay prayer beyond what is necessary.

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: We observed the prayer after nightfall with the Messenger of Allah , and he did not come out till about half the night had passed. He then said: Take your places. We then took our places. Then he said: The people have prayed and gone to bed, but you are still engaged in prayer as long as you wait for the prayer. Were it not for the weakness of the weak and for the sickness of the sick. I would delay this prayer till half the night had gone.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of the needs of those who are weak or sick when it comes to prayer. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was compassionate towards his followers, understanding that some may not have the strength or health to stay up late for prayer. He encouraged them to pray at a time that was suitable for them, rather than forcing them into an uncomfortable situation. This hadith also teaches us about compassion in general; we should always strive to be kind and understanding towards others, especially those who may need our help more than others.
